Guantanamo, November 21 (RHC)-- Representatives of the University of Guantanamo and the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, Mexico, expressed their willingness to strengthen projects of common interest under the agreement signed in 2014 between these institutions.
Speaking to reporters, Tomas Ruelas, professor of Fiscal Studies at the Mexican university, described the meeting as very useful, and referred to the interest of promoting academic exchanges and specific agreements for mutual benefit in teaching.
Guantanamo, for example, he pointed out, is interested in strengthening the area of Agrarian Law, and in that sense we can boost, and the University of Sinaloa, benefits from the support to make incursions into the new educational model of comprehensive professional skills, in which Cuba has experience.
Doctor in Sciences Alberto Turro Breff, rector of the University of Guantanamo, referred to working together to increase scientific publications by pedagogues and doctoral training in various areas of knowledge, especially related to the socioeconomic development of the province.
The two parties also discussed the issue of post-graduate programs, qualifications, student mobility for summer schools in the two countries, possibilities of scholarships in different degree courses of the Cuban educational center, and networking in areas of
industry and the increase of renewable energy sources.
They also focused on the creation of inter-university honorary professorships, technological renewal, and the promotion of studies in the agribusiness branch in Guantanamo, mainly to contribute, from research, to sugar and food and agriculture production growth.
The meeting also finalized agreements with delegations from universities in Ecuador and Colombia, which took place within the context of the 3rd International Scientific Seminar "Training and Local Development", held from Tuesday to Friday on the eastern end of the island.
