Havana, November 23 (RHC-PL) -- The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is in Cuba on a two-day official visit. His program includes talks with Cuban President Raul Castro, and other activities.

Cuba is the first leg of a Latin American tour that will also take the Qatari emir to Mexico and Venezuela. The tour is aimed at boosting trade and cooperation relations between Qatar and the three Latin American countries in several fields.

Cuba and Qatar maintain cooperation in different sectors, especially in the medical field, with the presence of Cuban medical personnel in the Arab country.

During his stay, the Qatari emir will attend the signing of cooperation accords and memorandums of understanding between Cuban and Qatari authorities and institutions.

The State of Qatar supports the struggle of the Caribbean country against the U.S. blockade.
