Havana, November 24 (RHC)-- Cuban President Raúl Castro held official talks in Havana with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who has concluded a two-day visit to our country.

After Monday's official talks at the Revolution Palace, President Raúl Castro and the emir of the Arab state presided over the signing of bilateral cooperation accords.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and his counterpart from Qatar, Khaled Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, signed a document related to reciprocal supervision of visa requirements for special diplomatic and service passports. The initiative facilitates the entry and exit of citizens from both countries.

Meanwhile, Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca and the executive president of Qatar´s Investment Authority signed a memo of understanding on bilateral collaboration, which ratifies Qatar´s willingness to invest in Cuba over the next five years.

The visit to Cuba by Al-Thani is part of the process to further enhance bilateral relations, which began developing in 1989. From Cuba, the Qatari leader traveled to Mexico, the second leg of his current Latin American tour that will also take him to Venezuela.
