Havana, January 25 (RHC)-- Parliament President Esteban Lazo, confirmed Cuba's willingness to further strengthen friendship and cooperation relations with Namibia towards boosting both countries' social and economic development.

Lazo met Sunday with visiting speaker of the African country's National Assembly Peter H. Katjavivi, who arrived in Havana to participate in a UNESCO-sponsored international conference on the legacy of Cuban National Hero José Martí.

The Cuban parliament president thanked the Namibian government and people for their support for the Cuban cause against the U.S. blockade.

The Namibian legislative official said his country's relations with Cuba were excellent. Cuba he said was a beacon of light, and a permanent source of inspiration for freedom fighters and revolutionaries in Africa and around the world.
