Cuba and Angola Sign Fishery Accord

Luanda, February 4 (RHC)-- Cuban Food Minister Maria del Carmen Concepcion and Angolan Minister of Fisheries Victoria de Barros Neto signed a Memo of Understanding (MOU) on bilateral collaboration in the sectors of fisheries and aquiculture.

The document establishes the ways and means to implement exchange and collaboration in a plan that includes the areas of scientific research, technological development, food canning, and quality control, as well as the building of shipyards and other fishing-related resources.

After signing the accord, Concepcion told reporters that the Angolan government is willing to diversify the country´s economy and create jobs.

The minister added that bilateral relations are focusing on the Cuban support of Angola through technical advice and the exchange of experience to develop sustainable fishing and aquiculture.

Meanwhile, the Angolan official said that the actions established by the MOU will be implemented this year and through 2017. Angola wants to have Cuban technical assistance in the areas of research, training of human resources and aquiculture.
