Havana, August 20 (PL) The cinema 23 y 12 in Havana will host this Tuesday the premiere of a documentary about the life and work of the Cuban ethnologist, anthropologist and writer Natalia Bolivar.
Directed by Ernesto Daranas, the film entitled Natalia proposes an approach to the personality of the intellectual, who at 84 lives with two of her daughters and prepares her autobiography with their help.
In 74 minutes, several days of work are summarized, including new passages of the life of the recognized specialist in the Cuban religions of African origin and painter.
Produced by Sinsonte Films and RTV Comercial, the documentary was made by a team of professionals, including assistant director Laura Daranas, producers Adriana Moya, Joel Ortega and Luis Tejera, photographer and editor Rafael (Felo) Garcia; and musicians Juan Antonio Leyva and Magda Rosa Galban.
Bolivar possesses a multifaceted work in which his conferences in several countries on religion, the advising in feature films and theatrical works like Ire y Habana and Fresa y Chocolate stand out.
Her publications include the following: The Orishas in Cuba, Ituto: Death in Afro-Cuban Myths and Rituals, Myths and Legends of Afro-Cuban Food, Opolopo Owo: the divinatory systems of the Rule of Ocha, Orishas, Egguns, Nkisis, Nfumbes and his possession of Cuban painting.
There are also books, Death is beginning, not end. Quintin Bandera; and in collaboration with Carmen Gonzalez: Ituto: death in Afro-Cuban mythology and religious syncretism, as well as Myths and legends of food.
