The demands of the international community for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in view of the escalation of violence in recent weeks, are multiplying, while the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating more and more due to the constant Israeli attacks.

In an open session of the Security Council, UN Secretary General António Guterres called for the lives of the population to be respected and protected. The number of civilian casualties and the total destruction of neighborhoods continues to rise, he stressed.

The debate is taking place after four meetings, in which it was not possible to reach a joint declaration on the conflict, which experts believe threatens to spread and aggravate the already complex panorama in the Middle East.

The proposals put forward have so far met with the objection of the United States, which, as it has traditionally done, hinders any resolution against its staunch ally in the region, Israel.

But the sad reality is that the overall death and injury figures are worrying. In besieged Gaza nearly six thousand Palestinians have been killed, 62% of whom, according to the Gaza Strip's Ministry of Health, are women and children.

In addition, some 15,200 people are injured and more than 1,000 people are presumed to be under the rubble of homes and other facilities destroyed by the Zionist bombardments.

In the last hours, the WHO, the World Health Organization, warned that two thirds of the hospitals in Gaza have had to stop their operations due to the siege imposed by Tel Aviv, after the HAMAS offensive against Israeli territory on the 7th.

The organization also stated that at least 50,000 pregnant women do not have access to the most basic health services and 130 premature babies are at risk.

And although in recent days humanitarian aid has been allowed to enter, the fact is that for more than 15 years the Zionist regime has imposed a sea, land and air blockade on this Palestinian territory, in violation of international law.

The situation is very complex in Gaza, where more than one million of its residents are internally displaced persons and face all kinds of shortages and a constant threat to their lives.

The current escalation of violence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has once again demonstrated the urgent need for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution, including the recognition of the Palestinian people's right to the lands usurped by Israel.
