Omara Portuondo releases 'Bolero a la vida'
Havana, May 30 (RHC)-- Cuban singer Omara Portuondo presented a music video for the second track of new album that she is preparing to celebrate her 90th birthday. The album was recorded almost entirely during the long months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The track’s title is ‘Bolero a la vida’, and it features Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno, who co-authored the tune along with Cuban Santiago Larramendy.
A bolero tune, ‘Bolero a la vida’ conveys a message of optimism, necessary at such a difficult time for all of humanity.
The audiovisual, directed by video maker Joseph Ross, was recorded in Havana and Los Angeles, and produced by the Cuban Music Institute, the National Center for Popular Music, RTV Comercial and Ariel Giménez y Portuondo.
Ross created a story, where water is a metaphor, a unifying element and a direct reference to life’s origin. Also, the representation of time, the scenes of Omara and her granddaughter Rosío and the breathtaking beauty of the underwater scenery are all elements attesting to the high quality of the audiovisual.
