Experimental Theater Festival ends in Cuba

Havana, Dec 10 (RHC)-- The international festival of Experimental Theater Disconnected to 969, ended Sunday in Santiago de Cuba, after five days of presentations, dismantling of plays and theoretical events, with participation from Mexico, Argentina and Cuba.

Rey Luis Correa, vice president of the Hermanos Saiz Association in the southeastern province, told Prensa Latina that this year the festival was dedicated to the Latin American scene and was nourished by the experiences of Mexican and Argentine groups.

He also described as profitable the theoretical event that was starred by those Latin American voices including the Cuban ones.

He also highlighted the massive presence of young people in the theaters and announced that from next year the Disconnected to 969 will be held in June, which coincides with the anniversary of La Caja Negra.

The event included photographic exhibitions, panels, theoretical events and musical shows that enlivened the city of Santiago de Cuba; during the last five days three foreign and national groups from Havana, Villa Clara and Guantanamo, disconnected from the traditional codes of the art of the stage and bet on experimentation.

During the closing day, the Grupo de Experimentación Escénica de Santiago de Cuba, La Caja Negra, host of the event, presented the play Ofelia, a plot directed by Edilberto Sosa, which talks about the struggle of the female body against violence and the silences caused by the exercise of power (Source: Prensa Latina).
