Bayamo, November 19 (RHC)-- The Gala for the celebration of the Day of Physical Education and Sports in Cuba took place Thursday in Bayamo, capital of the eastern province of Granma.

The province has been celebrating the event for several days, and in cities such as Bayamo and Manzanillo various commemorative activities have been held, as well as the awarding of prizes to workers linked to sports activities in the province.

The main authorities of the Cuban Sports Institute (INDER) and of the province of Granma are expected to attend the central national gala, which is planned for the Bayamo Theater.

Also this Thursday, a pilgrimage to the Pantheon of Sports Glories was held at the cemetery of Bayamo, and on Wednesday, several activities took place, including a cultural gala, in Manzanillo, and activities in several sports combinations of the territory, in which grandparents, parents and children were mobilized to exercise their muscles.

Also highlighted were the activities of the Online World Cup Under-17 Weightlifting, tours of outstanding sports centers and acts of delivery of decorations and medals to workers with more than 20 and 25 years in the sector.  The winners of the annual INDER Science Awards was also recognized. 

On Saturday, the actions will continue with a giant recreational sports festival, with exhibitions of the Motorcycle and Karting Club, and martial arts.
