Jorge Soler, MVP of the 2021 World Series

Houston, November 3 (PL)-- With home runs by Jorge Soler, Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman, the Atlanta Braves defeated the Houston Astros 7-0 in the sixth game of the United States baseball World Series, and took the crown in six games.

The Atlanta franchise won despite having the worst record of all the teams that qualified for the current postseason (88-73), but the playoffs were a clean slate for manager Brian Snitker's disciples, who won 11 of their 16 games.

The newly crowned champions won 4-2 in the Series after coming out on top in games one (6-2), three (2-0), four (3-2) and six (7-0).

In a packed Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, the visitors opened the scoring in the third inning with a home run by Cuban José Soler, with two men on, which made Venezuelan Luis García jump out of the box. Soler hit three home runs and towed six in the series, to deserve the distinction of Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the World Series.

In the fifth episode, the winners made the game 6-0 with another home run, in this case by Dansby Swanson, and the final blow came in the seventh with another home run by Freddie Freeman.

The Braves' starter, Max Fried, pitched a great six innings, in which he allowed no runs, gave up only four hits and struck out six opponents to get the victory.

Fried was relieved by Tyler Matzek, who pitched a couple of innings, and Will Smith, who worked impeccably in the postseason, closed.

It took Atlanta 26 years to see the Braves win the Major League crown, while the Astros played their third final in the last 5 years.
