Havana, June 3 (RHC).- World champions Yaime Perez and Lazaro Martinez and Olympic finalist Roxana Gomez achieved triumphs this Thursday for Cuban athletics at the athletic meeting in Montreuill, France.
Perez, world champion in Doha-2019 and Olympic bronze medalist in Tokyo-2020, threw the discus to 64.45m, her best result of the season, to beat Brazil's Isabella Da Silva (63.04m) and Portugal's Liliana Ca (61.41).
For his part, Lazarito, this year's indoor world champion in Belgrade (Serbia), went 17.30m to win the triple jump, equaling the best result of his life outdoors, achieved a few days ago in Spain.
The new jewel of the Cuban triple jump repeated his triumph of the last world championship against the also Cuban nationalized Portuguese Pedro Pablo Pichardo, second with 17.18.
The other success of the Cuban athletics team in Montreuil was for the talented young Roxana Gómez, winner of the oval lap with 51.72, just one second less than the second place finisher, Briton Nielsen (52.72).
Not as fortunate were hurdler Greisys Roble and eight-time runner Rose Mary Almanza.
Roble did not reach her best results and clocked 13.20 sec. to take fifth place, while Almanza was in an unusual eleventh place with 2.05.86 min.
