Marlies Mejías

Havana, June 6 (ACN)-- Cuban Marlies Mejías, one of the main figures of the Cuban cycling team, was runner-up on Sunday in the Clarendon Cup, after finishing third on Saturday in the Crystal Cup, with the Twenty24 Pro Cycling club in Virginia, United States.

The Cuban team and the rider herself shared this afternoon the results and podiums on their official Facebook pages, as well as the tournament page on Instagram, although the time tables of the races are not yet available.

This Sunday in the Clarendon Cup, Mejías was only surpassed by the American Kendall Ryan, of the L39ION of Los Angeles.

On the previous day, the Cuban was third in the Crystal Cup, which kicked off this weekend's cycling classics in Arlington, Virginia.

Mejías, who was champion in 2017 at the Clarendon Cup, one of the main cycling events in the region, won in her most recent competition on behalf of Cuba the place for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023 in the individual time trial, a quota achieved last May 12 at the Pan American Road Championships in Argentina.

Previously, in her return to the sport after becoming a mother on August 19, 2019, the Cuban won the Pan American champion in August 2021 in the time trial in the continental road cycling championship in the Dominican Republic.
