Hungarian swimmer Kristof Milak
Budapest, June 22 (PL) - Hungarian swimmer Kristof Milak set a world record in the final of the 200-meter butterfly at the Universal Championships in Budapest with a time of 1.50.34 minutes.
Milak, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, retained the crown won in Gwangju 2019 and beat his previous world record by 39 hundredths.
The Magyar was followed on the podium by France's Léon Marchand, second, with a time of 1.53.37, and Japan's Tomoru Honda, third (1.53.61).
In the men's 800m freestyle, the crown went to American Robert Finke with a time of 7.39.36 minutes, followed by German Florian Wellbrock (7.39.63) and Ukrainian Myjailo Romanchuk (7.40.05).
Another U.S. representative, Nic Fink, triumphed in the 50m breaststroke final with a time of 26.45 seconds, ahead of Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi (26.48) and USA's Michael Andrew (26.72).
In the women's competition, China's Yang Junxuan won the 200m freestyle with a time of 1.54.92 minutes, seconded by Australia's Mollie O'Callaghan (1.55.22) and China's Tang Muhan (1.56.25).
The United States quartet, composed of Hunter Armstrong, Nic Fink, Torri Huske and Claire Curzan, won the scepter in the mixed 4×100 combined relay with a time of 3.38.79 minutes.
The silver medal was won by the Australian relay of Kaylee McKeown, Zac Stubblety-Cook, Matthew Temple and Shayna Jack, with a time of 3.41.34, and the bronze medal was won by the Netherlands, formed by Kira Toussaint, Arno Kamminga, Nyls Korstanje and Marrit Steenbergen (3.41.54).
