Havana, July 1 (RHC) }-- Swimming opened Thursday Cuba's medal list in the history of the Caribbean Games, with a gold medal and three bronze medals in the first edition of this competition, which gathered seven sports in Guadeloupe until Sunday, July 3rd.

Cuba began with the title of Rodolfo Falcón (son) in the 1,500-meter freestyle. The Havana native won followed by a Puerto Rican and a fellow Cuban, in that order, according to the event's Twitter page.

The Cuban institutional sports publication Jit confirmed the result in the same way, with Falcón clocking 16:01:05 minutes and Vladimir Hernández 16:54:19.

Then, Julio Calero and Dainet Pedré won bronze in 100 meters breaststroke.

Among the Cuban swimmers in the tournament, Andrea Becali, who last week participated in the World Championship in Hungary, along with Falcón, Calero and Elisbet Gámez, also has a good chance of a podium finish.

Cuba competes in these first Caribbean Games with 58 athletes, in 60 of the 67 events called, in a competition for athletes from 15 to 23 years old.
