Havana, October 24 (PL)-- The Houston Astros swept the New York Yankees in 4 games and qualified to the Major League Baseball World Series in the United States, where they will face the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Astros outscored the Yankees 6-5 in the very sanctuary of the Bronx, and completed a scandalous sweep, four wins (4-2, 3-2, 5-0, 6-5) to zero in the American League Championship Series.

The decisive runs came in the top of the seventh inning, driven in by Cuban Yordan Álvarez and the MVP of the series against the Yankees, Alex Bregman.

With the sweep, the Astros managed to eliminate the Yankees for the fourth time since 2015.

Thus, the Houston team advanced to the World Series, where they will face the Philadelphia Phillies, four wins to one over the San Diego Padres, in the National League Championship Series.

The hero of Sunday's game was slugger Bryce Harper, who hit the decisive home run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Phillies a 4-3 win.

The Major League World Series will open its curtains next Friday, the 28th, with a presumed pitcher's duel between Astros right-hander Justin Verlander and Aaron Nola for the Phillies.
