Caracas, February 6 (JIT) - The president of INDER, Osvaldo Vento Montiller, held a meeting in Caracas with Felix Plasencia, executive secretary of Alba-TCP, and Melvin Maldonado, Venezuelan minister of sports.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of cordiality and pleasant dialogue, in the presence of Dagoberto Rodríguez Barrera, Cuban ambassador to Venezuela.

The main topic of the meeting, held on Sunday at the Simon Bolivar Monumental Stadium, was the organization of the V ALBA Games, to be held in this country from April 21 to 29 in the states of Caracas, Miranda and La Guaira.

Plasencia made a brief overview of the founding principles of Alba-TCP, its role in the overthrow of the U.S. FTAA and its support for Latin American and Caribbean unity.

In this sense, he highlighted the important role of sports and the importance of the sports systems of Cuba, Venezuela and other nations in the area.

Vento Montiller ratified Cuba's willingness to participate in a large group of sports, suggested inviting representatives from other countries outside Alba, and called for working together intensely to achieve the success of these games, which have not been held for 12 years.

Maldonado explained that they are actively working on the organization of the event, with 14 working commissions and organizing committees in the three states involved.

However, he acknowledged the complexities of the general and sports logistics, including the limitations of several countries of the bloc to find air connections with the country. In this regard, he recalled the impact of the U.S. sanctions against the country.

At the meeting, it was stated that some 30 sports facilities will be used and that some 3,500 athletes are expected to attend.

At this moment, the delegations interested in attending are being specified, among which Russia is invited.

Vento Montiller has an intense working day in Caracas. His first official activity took place on Saturday, when he met with Giuseppe Palmisano, president of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

In the friendly dialogue, options were explored to increase exchanges between the leagues of both countries, as well as the insertion of Cuban players in the Venezuelan League.

The head of Inder foresees other activities in this capital until February 8.
