Havana, May 20 (RHC) -- The young Cuban duo of Amanda Armenteros and Yenifer Rivera debuted this Friday with two successes in the third stop of the North, Central America and Caribbean (Norceca) Beach Volleyball 2023 Circuit, scheduled to take place until next Sunday in the Cayman Islands.

After recently finishing in fifth place in the previous phase in Varadero, Armenteros and Rivera won Group A with identical 2-0 scores against the Antigua Peters-Thomas duos, with a score of 21-11-21-8, and the Virgin Islands Bucker-Charles (21-8 and 21-12), in that order.

According to the website www.norceca.net, the rivals this Saturday of the Cubans, members of the first women's pair of the largest of the Antilles, will be the pairs from the United States, Chacon-DeBerg, and Mexico, Albarran-Tores, respectively, at the end of the group stage.

So far, Mexico's duos are leading the A, with three wins without a setback, followed by Cuba (2-0), the United States (1-1), Antigua (0-3) and the Virgin Islands (0-2), in that order.

Armenteros and Lopez's main objective is to earn points towards qualifying for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, scheduled from October 20 to November 5.

They will also take advantage of the competition to continue their preparation for the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, from June 23 to July 8.

They are also scheduled to participate in a Norceca U-23 phase, from June 1 to 5, and another pre-World Cup phase (June 6-9), in both cases in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and the Pan American qualifying tournament.
