Poland-Japan and USA-Italy to clash in VNL semis

Havana, July 21 (RHC) - Poland-Japan and the United States-Italy will meet this Saturday in the semifinals of the Nations Volleyball League (VNL), in the Polish city of Gdansk.

In Thursday's quarterfinal matches, Poland and Japan defeated Brazil and Slovenia, respectively, to advance to the semifinals.

The Japanese defeated Slovenia 3-0 without major setbacks, in a match in which they dominated in all collective aspects of the game, while Yuki Ishikawa (27 points) stood out at the individual level.

Poland, meanwhile, also overcame Brazil 3-0, in a match where Sliwka (16) and the Cuban nationalized Polish Wilfredo Leon (9) stood out.

In the other quarterfinals, the United States eliminated France and Italy defeated Argentina.

The semifinal matches of the Volleyball Nations League will take place this Saturday, July 22, while the grand finale will be played on Sunday, July 23.
