Santi Spíritus, March 2 (RHC)-- The Leoparditos de Santa Clara achieved a pair of victories this Saturday (7-2 and 4-0), and became the champions of the Cuban baseball Little League.
In a packed René Díaz Rodríguez stadium in Espiritu, the Naranjas struck first (7-2), with a hit on Yhan Espinosa's account.
With the lumber, the big boy was Yosmil Fuentes, with a pair of hits and three runs batted in, the loss went to Samuel Ruiz.
In the second inning, the spotlight went to pitcher Deivis Hernández, who showed nerves of steel on the pitching mound, taking the credit (4-0), without allowing liberties to the Gallitos, who were worthy rivals, and who were undefeated in the fair to date.
Now the Leoparditos will be the Cuban representatives in the World Series, which will be held in Pennsylvania, United States.
