Havana, April 9 (PL) -- In a thrilling match, Real Madrid and Manchester City tied 3-3 in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League of European soccer and left the decision open for the second leg.

For the Spaniards, the French Eduardo Camavinga in the 12th minute, the Brazilian Rodrygo (14th) and the Uruguayan Federico Valverde (79th) scored, and for the English, the Portuguese Bernardo Silva (2nd minute), Phil Foden (66th) and the Croatian Josko Gvardiol (71st).

Early on, Silva took advantage of the absence of a wall to take a 40-meter free kick, just wide of the right post defended by Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, to give the visitors the lead.

Camavinga started Madrid's reaction in the 12th minute, with a long-range shot that deflected off Ruben Dias and left Spanish-born German goalkeeper Stefan Ortega helpless.

Shortly after, Brazil's Vinicius Jr. played a through ball to Rodrygo, who drove into the box to beat Ortega and give the Spaniards a 2-1 lead.

Manchester City took the lead again with long-range goals from Foden and Gvardiol in just five minutes, but a tremendous volley from Valverde in the 79th minute saved Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, England star Harry Kane scored for Bayern Munich in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in London.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker scored in the 32nd minute to give the Germans a 2-1 lead.

The Premier League leaders, who are in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in 14 years, opened the scoring after 12 minutes through Bukayo Saka.

However, Serge Gnabry struck six minutes later to equalize and then Kane got his 39th of the season from a foul on Leroy Sane in the box.

Arsenal will now travel to Bavaria for the return leg next week with hope after substitute Leandro Trossard's equalizer in the 77th minute following a great individual move by Brazilian Gabriel Jesus.
