International Federation ratified 37 Latin judokas for Paris 2024

Lausanne, Switzerland, June 26 (PL) - The International Judo Federation (IJF) ratified the presence of 37 representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean in Paris 2024.

According to the qualifying process that ended in the most recent World Championship, and after the allocation of universal and refugee places, there will be 20 women and 17 men who will defend the colors of the region in the different tournaments of the martial art.

As usual, Brazil will be the most represented nation, with 13 competitors, followed by Cuba (4), Puerto Rico, Mexico and Chile (2).

The qualified Cubans are the Olympic and world multi medalist Idalis Ortiz and Mailin del Toro, in the women's category, and two men, Ivan Silva and Andy Granda.

Meanwhile, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay will be competing with one judoka.

For the mixed team competition, only the South American giant qualified for this zone, since it was necessary to obtain at least five individual places, three in each gender.
