Yarisleidys Cirilo/Yinnoly López

Paris, Aug 9 (ACN) Cuban canoeists Yarisleidis Cirilo and Yinnoly Lopez said they were happy with the eighth place achieved today in the 500-meter tandem (C-2) in the canoeing of the 33rd Olympic Games of Paris 2024, at the Vaires-Sur-Marme Nautical Stadium on the outskirts of this city.

With the satisfaction of the accomplished purpose, to advance to the final A and to give the maximum, they went through the mixed zone of the aquatic track installation, and quickly Cirilo ratified it and added that tomorrow she will look for the gold medal in the single sculls (C-1) at 200 meters, distance in which she is world champion.

Cirilo continued with great fluency in her words and the smile that characterizes her to remind the press that in the C-2 to 500 she was also a finalist A in Tokyo 2020, but with another partner, "it is the continuity of the effort in the preparation".

She added that she feels very good in the boat with the 17-year-old, seven years old in canoeing. "We are very happy and especially me, very happy with how Yinnoly did."

The debutant in the five rings also had words of praise ¨I feel very happy for the result in her company, we get along very well in and out of the canoe. She is a world champion and tomorrow she will be an Olympian".

Asked about the level of her rivals, Cirilo said "I really don't know. It may seem arrogant, but I am well prepared both physically and psychologically and in my mind there is no room for anyone to be ahead of me. I am the champion, I am the one who is going to win, because in the end, no matter what happens, I am the one who is going to win."

"The level has increased, the boats are getting better every day, everyone is focusing on the details to improve, but just as the world is doing it, we are doing it".

Another quick question and answer was: "So tomorrow Cuba gets its third gold medal? Sure".

Of course, there were also words of gratitude for teammates, coaches, the triad -doctor-physiotherapist-psychologist-, family and "the people who deserve the best" from they.

The other Cuban canoeist competing today was José Ramón Pelier, who finished second, but in the B final, tenth overall.
