Bukhara, Sept 15 (JIT) - A 10 goals defeat against Brazil marked the debut of the Cuban national team in the Fifa Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024.
The five-time world champion put on the field the quality that separates it from the rest and made the Cubans pay dearly for every mistake, with the accuracy of a clockwork machine.
The fair award for the superiority speaks well of the Verdeamarelha, but hides behind the resounding result the courageous attitude of the Cubans, who earned the applause of the public and the unanimous chorus of "Cuba, Cuba" in recognition of the David of Judah's affront against the giant Goliath of the Philistines.

"Nobody is happy after an adverse result, much less if the scoreboard shows a wide difference like today's, but we also evaluate with humility and we know of their superiority", Cuban coach Osmel Valdivia told JIT.
"We knew it would be difficult and we tried to minimize the damage in defense against a team that crushes its rivals, I am left with the attitude of the boys that left no room for complaints," he added.
Valdivia was optimistic for the upcoming matches and compared the level of the first opponent with the rest, even though he acknowledged that they still have to correct some deficiencies in defense and improve their finishing.
"Obviously we can't be satisfied with the outcome, but we have two games left and we will go out there to improve our image and achieve better results," said Jonathan Hernandez, captain of the West Indies squad.
In the other Group B match, Thailand defeated Croatia by a score of two goals to one. The winners will face Cuba, which closes this phase against the Croatians, on the 17th.
