Raidel Martínez

Havana, Sept 21 (ACN) - Cuban pitcher Raidel Martinez set a new personal record in his career by scoring his 40th save of the season in the Japan Professional Baseball League.

With his 40th save, Raidel also reaffirmed himself as the leader in that category in the Japanese League.

In front of almost 30 thousand fans present at the Meiji Jingu in Tokyo, the supersonic Cuban pitcher took the mound in the ninth inning and retired the three batters he faced, one of them with a strikeout, to preserve the lead of his Chunichi Dragons, who defeated the Yakukt Swallows 7-6.

In this way he broke his old record of 39 games saved set in 2022 when he took the lead in the Central League and lowered his average of clean runs per nine innings to 1.00, to prove that he is one of the best pitchers in the league.

In this campaign he has allowed just six clean scores in 54 chapters, has only conceded 10 tickets and has struck out 56 batters.

Raidel, who will be one of the strongholds of the Cuba team in the Premier 12 in November, also reached the figure of 350 hits in his seven-season career in the Land of the Rising Sun.
