Moscow, Dec 1 (PL) Russian paratroopers set a world distance record of more than 80 kilometers by jumping from 10,000 meters, Rostec Corporation announced today.

According to the note published on Sunday on Rostec's official Telegram page, the feat of the skydivers from the Shkalov flight test center, attached to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, was achieved during a test of the company's new special-purpose Dalnolet parachute.

The communication specifies that the athletes “jumped from 10,000 meters and overcame a distance of more than 80 kilometers”, something unprecedented until now, Rostec announced.

The jump was made from an Antonov An-72 aircraft flying at 350 kilometers per hour and at minus 57 degrees Celsius.

Originally, the Dalnolet was designed for jumps from an altitude of up to 8,000 meters, but the test allowed it to be raised to 10,000 meters, which makes this parachute “the first in the world that can be used for ultra-long distance jumps from the stratosphere,” said Rostec.
