Vinicius wins The Best FIFA 2024 Award
Doha, Dec 17 (PL) Today, Brazilian Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid striker, received The Best FIFA 2024 award at an atypical gala held telematically at the Aspire Academy in Doha.
The 24-year-old thus becomes the first player born in the South American giant to win the award for the best player in the world since Kaka was crowned in 2007 with the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player and joins the select club that also includes Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho (Ballon d'Or), and Romario (FIFA World Player).
Among the nominees in this category were the likes of Leo Messi (last year's winner), Dani Carvajal, Rodri, Toni Kroos, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz, Erling Haaland, and Fede Valverde.
The fans' vote was essential in choosing the winners in the various categories, thanks to a system that gives their votes the same weight as those of the captains, current coaches of the men's and women's national teams, and journalists.
