Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra Díaz, and his Algerian counterpart, Ramtan Lamamra recently signed a new cooperation agreement in the field of tourism and sports in Algiers.

The preparations for the 28th edition of Marabana, main event of marathon in Cuba, continues with the enrollment of 1 thousand local runners so far.

Carlos Gattorno, director of Marabana-Maracuba Project, told local ACN news agency that this figure represents a third of what they predicted for national participation.

Regarding the foreign presence, Gattorno said that so far 443 runners have been registered-from 40 countries, a historical record of participation in this event, whose deadline for registration is October 31st due to the need to ensure the hiring of all timing services.

Regarding logistics, he explained that they are receiving systematic collaboration of Ciego Montero, as a supplier, and also the support of the Food Industry Enterprises Union, to provide all services and water.

He stated that the meeting will be attended by a group of doctors who shall perform a primary health check to all runners.

Also, the classic draw will take place at Paseo Gallery, in this city, a day later Marabana's starting whistle will be on November 16th at 7: 00 a.m. while Maracuba's shall be a day before at 10 a.m., both of them will be in accordance with Radio Reloj Station.

Jamaica and Cuba to Boost Cooperation in Sports

Jamaica and Cuba considered to boost cooperation in the fields of sports and physical culture, reported the Embassy of Cuba in Kingston.

According to the embassy, the Sports Minister of Jamaica, Natalie Neita-Headley, received in her office the charge d'affaires of Cuba, Ricardo Tur, and discussed the potential of the two countries to increase links in the sports sector.
After the meeting, Tur thanked the Jamaican Minister for her support as a member of parliament to the motion passed by the House of Representatives of Jamaica demanding the lifting of the criminal US blockade against Cuba.
