Liván Moinelo's first victory

Havana, Apr 1 (JIT) - Cuban pitcher Liván Moinelo scored his first win of the season in the 5x1 victory of the SoftBank Falcons over the Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japanese Professional Baseball League 2025.

At Es Con Field, in Hokkaido, and for the Pacific League, the fast left-hander from Pinar del Río allowed a solo home run and a single in seven solid innings.

He struck out six opponents, gave up one ticket and hit a batter, in what was his first start of the year.

Thus, he left his starting record at 1-0 and his ERA at 1.29.

For the Nippon Ham Fighters, Matanzas starter Ariel Martínez struck out three times in as many visits to the plate to lower his batting average to .167.

Cuban pitching has started in style this season in Japan. Raidel Martínez, also from Pinar del Río, participated in two of the three victories of the Yomiuri Giants against Yakult, in his role as closer: he won one game and saved another.
