Cuba's Yipsi Moreno Sets New Record in Hammer Throw
Cuban Yipsi Moreno won the hammer throw title setting a new record, 71.35 meters, for these games in Veracruz-2014.
Moreno, 3-time world champion, won that level on her 5th attempt, which surpassed the previous mark of 70.22 meters in her possession from Cartagena de Indias-2006.
The 2-time Olympic holder in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, was escorted to the podium by her fellow Yurisleydi Lisbet Ford, who registered 69.62 meters and Colombian Yohana Eli Moreno (67.77), champion 4 years ago in Mayagüez-2010.
After this result, Cuba filed 63 gold, 41 silver and 36 bronze medals, behind Mexico, owner of 67-53-68 and ahead of Colombia, which shows 49-49-48 while Venezuela ranks 4th with 39-43-67.
Second Group of Cuban Athletes Returns from Veracruz Games
Baseball, synchronized swimming, softball and gymnastics athletes returned to Cuba after participating in Veracruz-2014, where they completed an outstanding performance.
Granma newspaper reports that athletes were received at José Martí International Airport by Miguel Díaz-Canel, 1st vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers; José Ramón Fernández, head of the Cuban Olympic Committee and other authorities of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, INDER, by its Spanish acronym.

Cuban Boxers Undefeated in Veracruz
Arlén López defeated 3-0 Colombian Jorge Vivas achieving thus Cuba's 7 consecutive win in the boxing tournament of the 22nd Cent-Am and Caribbean Games, held at the World Trade Center of this city.
Previously the Cuban boxing squad had reached 4 wins, all 3-0, including the one by the light heavyweight and double world champion, Julio Cesar La Cruz, over Trinitarian Andrew Fermin while the super heavyweight, Yoandris Toirac, continental champion, beat Clayton Laurent, from Virgin Islands, and flyweight, Yosbany Veitía, did the same against Guatemalan Eddy Valenzuela.
The only Cuban boxer who has not assured the bronze medal is the twice champion of the world Lazaro Alvarez, who defeated Panamanian Jaime Muñoz in the lightweight division but he is expected to achieve this goal today when facing Colombian Feider Hernandez.
Yordanis Garcia Tops Decathlon
The Cuban Yordanis García is topping decathlon of Central American and Caribbean Games Veracruz 2014, after the first 5 events on the first day of athletic activities in the Heriberto Jara Corona stage of Xalapa.
So far, Cuba has made effective its status as favorite to Yordanis Garcia in the lead with 333 points scored 4000 in the 100-meter dash, long jump, push the bullet, high jump and 400 meter freestyle.
His compatriot José Ángel Mendieta was placed in the 2nd place, followed by Dominican Juan Carlos de la Cruz, and Adolphus Jones of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
About 200 Boats Leave from Canary Islands to the Caribbean
The 29th Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) regatta has left for the Caribbean from Las Palmas, Spain, with 180 boats from 29 countries.
The ARC, the world's largest transoceanic competition, cruise at an estimated period of 16-21 days of sailing 2700 nautical miles to the port of Rodney Bay on the island of St. Lucia, one day after postponing the departure due to weather conditions.
The competition record of 10 days, 21 hours, 25 minutes and 10 seconds is held by the Caro German ship, piloted by Max Klink, which won last year.
UK has the largest number of registered vessels with 11 sailboats, followed by the US with 6, and Germany with 5, a competition that has been celebrating since 1986.
A feature of the ARC is that it supports various kinds of boats and crews formed by families with children, regular competitors and partners, in which women make up 28% of the crew, including 9 children of 16 years-old and 11 persons older than 70.
