Athletics: Usain Bolt wins in 200m return

World 100 and 200-meter record-holder Usain Bolt competed in his first 200-meter race in 20 months, posting an easy victory running in lane six with a time of 20.20 seconds on home soil in Jamaica on Saturday.

Bolt raced unchallenged off the curve at the UTech Classic event in Kingston and cruised down the homestretch for the win over teammates Nesta Carter, who finished second and Rusheen McDonald third.

Bolt missed most of last season with injuries and their potential showdown in Beijing is expected to be a highlight of the August 22-30 championships.

“I never have a problem competing as long as I know that I’m in great shape and I’m getting there,” Bolt said after running a 200 meters race, his first over the distance in more than 18 months.

"It didn't feel as smooth as I am used to, but I just need to run more races to get race sharp." Bolt's next race is a 100m in Rio on April 19, as he gears up for the Beijing World Championships later this year.
He will also compete in the New York Diamond League meeting on June 13, his first race in the Big Apple since 2008.

Triathlon: Jonathan Brownlee wins Gold Coast World Triathlon Series event

Britain's Jonathan Brownlee made it back-to-back wins in the 2015 World Triathlon Series with victory on the Gold Coast in Australia.

Brownlee clocked one hour 46 minutes 51 seconds to beat Mario Mola by 18 seconds with fellow Spaniard Javier Gomez a further 10 seconds back.

"I thought 'let's be aggressive', I think it hurts the guys," said the 24-year-old, who also won in New Zealand.

Brownlee, whose brother Alistair is still injured, won in Auckland last month after finishing fifth in the season-opener in Abu Dhabi.

He added: "On the run I knew they would take time out of me on the first lap, then I thought 'be steady, and if I run 30:30 it's going to take a great run for them to catch me', and fortunately they didn't."

Brownlee leads the rankings with 2,186 points, 219 ahead of Gomez.

The next event is in Cape Town in South Africa, where Jonathan will not compete but Alistair hopes to return.

Jonathan Callum Brownlee is a professional duathlete and triathlete. He was the 2012 Triathlon World Champion, and the silver medalist in 2013. Brownlee is also a two-time, and the reigning, World Sprint Triathlon Champion and is the former Under 23 Triathlon World Champion. Brownlee won the bronze medal in the Olympic triathlon at the London 2012 Olympic Games. His brother, Alistair Brownlee, is also a triathlon champion, having won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.
