Kabul, February 10 (RHC)-- At least seven Afghan National Army soldiers have been killed by an improvised explosive device explosion in the country's troubled west, officials say.
The spokesman for Afghanistan's Defense Ministry, Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, said the soldiers were killed when their vehicle struck the roadside bomb in the Dilaram district of Farah province on Sunday. Several others are also said to have been hurt and were transferred to a nearby hospital for necessary medical treatment.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. Provincial police forces, however, say the bomb had been planted by the Taliban militants.
There has been no letup in the Taliban attacks on U.S.-led foreign troops across Afghanistan with foreign occupation troops and Afghan forces falling prey to Taliban attacks on an almost daily basis. Roadside bombs and improvised explosive devices are by far the most lethal weapons Taliban militants use against Afghan forces, foreign troops and civilians.
