Jakarta, October 9 (RHC)-- In Indonesia, the death toll from last month’s massive earthquake and tsunami has risen to more than 2,000, with some 60,000 people displaced after an 18-foot wall of water swept miles into the island of Sulawesi.

Authorities warn some 5,000 people remain missing, many of them likely swept out to sea or trapped under rubble that could take months or years to clear.

Meanwhile, supplies are coming into the disaster zone in Indonesia, but reportedly very slowly.  According to observers on the ground, much of the aid has not yet reached areas most in need.  Some reporters have said there is a bottleneck of aid at the nearby airport, where the air traffic control tower collapsed during the earthquake.
