Washington, January 12 (RHC)-- U.S. President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and fixer Michael Cohen told reporters that he’ll testify to a House of Representatives committee next month about his work for Donald Trump.
Michael Cohen has been sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion, bank fraud, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress, after admitting he broke federal campaign finance laws by paying hush money to two women -- including a former porn star -- during the 2016 presidential campaign “in coordination with and at the direction” of President Trump.
This comes as The Washington Post reports the White House has added 17 new lawyers to its legal team in recent weeks, as President Trump and his inner circle brace for Robert Mueller to complete his investigation.
Meanwhile, Trump dismissed the news of Cohen's upcoming testimony in Congress as unimportant, claiming he had no worries about what Cohen would say about him.
Last month, Trump had referred to Cohen as a "rat" who was helping the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) gather incriminating evidence against him for what he described as a "witch hunt."
