Caracas, March 27 (RHC) – President Nicolas Maduro met on Wednesday evening with the High Commission of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), which is in Caracas to assist the government's efforts to establish a comprehensive dialogue between all political and social factions in the nation.

Following the meeting, Foreign Minister Elias Jaua reported that the Presidency was positively evaluating the implementation of a series of recommendations made by the foreign ministers and representatives of the UNASUR delegation, who in the past 48 hours have met with different sectors of Venezuelan society.

Jaua said the Venezuelan government highly appreciated the effort and dedication of the UNASUR foreign ministers during their mission in Venezuela.

In this regard, Jaua stressed that the Venezuelan president will carefully evaluate each of the recommendations and ideas provided by the regional delegation, whose main objective is to ensure the optimal development of the peace talks launched by the government in the South American country, with the aim of ending more than two months of political unrest.

Similarly, the chief Venezuelan diplomat said that the UNASUR bloc will publish an official statement on Thursday, recollecting the special commission's findings and its vision to the resolution of the conflict in Venezuela.

Venezuela has been the scene of violent anti-government demonstrations since early February, which have left some 36 people dead and hundreds of others injured.
