Dallas, August 8 (RHC)-- A series of new firearm laws will go into effect in the U.S. state of Texas next month, further loosening gun restrictions in a state that's had four of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in modern U.S. history.

The laws -- passed before a gunman massacred 22 people and injured dozens in El Paso last weekend -- will make it easier to have guns in a state with some of the most lax weapons restrictions in the nation.

Among the key firearm laws going into effect on September 1 include: carrying weapons on school grounds, armed security guards or "marshals" at schools, places of worship and other public areas.

Opponents of the new laws in Texas that make it easier to carry loaded fire arms out that there is no logical reason to believe that allowing more weapons to be carried around would decrease the number of shootings and murders of innocent people.
