Buenos Aires, January 19 (RHC)-- Bolivia's Movement Towards Socialism, headed by exiled President Evo Morales, announced Sunday that former Minister of Economy Luis Arce and former Minister of Foreign Affairs David Choquehuanca will run for president and vice president, respectively, for the country's May 3rd general elections. 

Luis Arce, 57 years-old, was Evo Morales' Minister of Economy from 2006 to 2019 leading the country's economic wonder, which was even praised by the International Monetary Fund.  The presidential candidate holds degrees in Economics from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres and the University of Warwick. In addition, he has an honorary doctorate from the University of Los Andes and Franz Tamayo University.

His running mate, David Choquehuanca, 58, was the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2006 to 2017.  The Indigenous diplomat was born in the Bolivian highlands and is a well-known campesino leader.  

"A running ticket to encompass Indigenous, social, and middle-class movements," commented teleSUR's correspondent Marco Teruggi -- meaning Morales' party flipped the Evo Morales-Garcia Linera logic, to now appeal to middle-classes first and Indigenous movements secondly. 

During the announcement, made by Evo Morales in Argentina, the candidates for senators for the main cities of La Paz, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz were announced to be Eduardo Rodriguez, Andronico Rodriguez, and Adriana Salvatierra. 

The presidential ticket was presented in Buenos Aires, where Morales also announced that the campaign for the presidential elections will officially begin on Wednesday, January 22nd.  The Indigenous leader will head an event that he hopes will attract more than 15,000 people.
