La Paz, February 23 (RHC)-- The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, closed the Meeting of Ministers of Education of the regional body on Monday, a virtual meeting which was coordinated by Venezuela.

"Venezuela makes available the program "Every Family is a School" as part of the policies developed in its basic education system during the quarantine to continue promoting access to free, inclusive and quality education at a distance," said Llorenti during the reading of the official report of the meeting that took place virtually.

In this sense, he acknowledged the educational achievements of nations such as Venezuela and Cuba in the midst of the pandemic and despite the fact that they have had to face the unilateral coercive economic measures of the U.S. government.

"Education is a human right and we advocate for quality education as a key to respond to and recover from the current global epidemiological situation," said the ALBA-TCP secretary, who recognized in the document the essential work of teachers, and urged the incorporation of professional skills, given the demands imposed by the current epidemiological context.

Llorenti explained that in the midst of the global health crisis, the work modalities for teachers, students and their families have been diversified, "with special emphasis on digital and pedagogical competences", which has favored the development of skills, social and emotional well-being "in order to achieve an equitable, inclusive and sustainable recovery," he added.
