Andres Arauz has significant lead in upcoming elections.

Quito, March 28 (RHC)-- With just two weeks before the celebration of the second round of elections in Ecuador, the presidential candidate of the opposition Union for Hope (Unes), Andres Arauz, has a seven percentage point lead in voter intentions over the right-wing candidate Guillermo Lasso.

The most recent survey of Perfiles de Opinión showed that Arauz has 37.87 percent of the electoral preference, while Lasso, presidential candidate running for the right-wing alliance CREO-PSC, has 30.19 percent.

The survey indicated that if the elections scheduled for April 11th were to be held today, 25.01 percent of those consulted would vote null, while 6.93 percent would vote blank.

The sample, which was applied in urban and rural areas of mainland Ecuador, was carried out between March 23rd and 24th.  The pollster interviewed 2,411 men and women between 16 and 70 years of age. It presents a margin of error of plus/minus 2.1, with a confidence interval of 95 percent.

The Unes candidate won the first electoral round on February 7 with 32.72 percent of the votes, while Lasso obtained 19.74 percent of the votes.  Between Arauz and the candidate of the CREO-PSC alliance will emerge the new president of Ecuador for the period 2021-2025.
