Bogota, May 16 (RHC)-- The Red de Derechos Humanos del Suroccidente de Colombia "Francisco Isaías Cifuentes" (REDFIC) -- the Human Rights Network of Southwest Colombia -- published this Saturday a report detailing the cases of sexual aggression against women in the context of the constant denunciations of repression by the security forces against demonstrators.

In the document, the Human Rights Network asserts that from April 28 to May 14, the Southwest region registered 11 cases of sexual aggression against women in the department of Valle del Cauca and three more in the city of Popayán (Department of Cauca), so the figure of 12 of the NGO Temblores, increases to 26 cases nationwide.

"However, it is essential to point out that, from April 28 to May 13, we have been able to register in the REDFIC that out of a total of - Special Report 2021 of 209 people captured, 52 have been women, another 19 have been injured and 15 are still missing," details the report.

The document reveals that feminist organizations have denounced members of the police who intimidate women who participate in the marches with actions such as sexual touching, abusive sexual acts, insults, violent carnal access, cruel and degrading treatment.

"Women and feminized bodies suffer multiple human rights violations due to their gender identity and sexual practices, which, however, are hardly registered.  This happens precisely because another aspect of this police violence expressed in macho practices and imaginaries, denies and specifically violates the existence of people with diverse sexualities and genders," says the Isaías Cifuentes Network.

Faced with the events that have occurred, REDFIC clarifies that not only women are victims of police violence, but also adolescents who participate massively in the rallies against the policies of Ivan Duque.   "This police violence is differential and specifically hits women, girls, boys and people of diverse sex and gender, invisibilized," according to the statement.
