Argentina once again claims sovereignty over Malvinas Islands 

Buenos Aires, June 24 (RHC)-- Argentineab Foreign Minister Felipe Solá is addressing the session of the United Nations Decolonization Committee on the question of the Malvinas Islands, a territory in dispute with the United Kingdom and stolen from Argentina in 1833.

During his official stay in New York, the head of the Argentine diplomacy will state the position of his country to the inalienable right over the Malvinas and will advocate to advance in the negotiation in search of a peaceful and lasting solution to the controversy.

The day before, Solá had a bilateral meeting with the president of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Volkan Bozkir, with the aim of expanding the adhesions in multilateral bodies for the resumption of negotiations between Argentina and the United Kingdom.

"We came in person to the UN to state that it is imperative that the United Kingdom agrees to establish dialogue on the Malvinas Question, in accordance with the mandate established and reiterated in numerous resolutions of this Assembly and its Special Committee on Decolonization," said Solá.

Argentina and the United Kingdom maintain a dispute over the Malvinas Islands, which led to an armed conflict in 1982 with a toll of 650 national combatants and 255 British soldiers killed.
