Lula is finally, really free!

Brasilia, June 25 (RHC)-- All the processes of former judge Sergio Moro against the former president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, were annulled on Thursday by the minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the South American country, Gilmar Mendes.

At the request of Lula da Silva's legal team, Mendes made his determination for the processes that have to do with a site in the municipality Atibaia, in Sao Paulo, and alleged undue advantages involving real estate in that state.

In this way, "all his actions are annulled and if another magistrate wanted to retake the cases he would have to start from scratch", explained teleSUR's correspondent in Brazil, Ignacio Lemus, in his account on the social network Twitter.

The journalist commented that, in this way, Lula, who has expressed that he has aspirations to run again for the presidency of the country, has "a clear path to 2022," when elections will be held.

Lula's lawyers affirmed that the minister's decision shows that Lula was "a target of lawfare, which is the strategic use of laws for illegitimate purposes," and a victim of the so-called "Car Wash" judicial operation.

Moro, as judge of the anti-corruption operation Lava Jato since 2014, imprisoned dozens of businessmen and politicians, among them Lula da Silva, who from the beginning claimed to be innocent and a victim of what he called the biggest legal lie in the history of Brazil.
