Victims of armed conflict in Colombia present experiences

Bogota, July 1 (RHC)-- Victims of the conflict in Colombia, residing in 23 countries, are presenting their experiences in the context of the war that led them to emigrate and their subsequent relationship with their country.

The objective of the event, held in Bogota in person and with virtual options for foreign countries, is to offer a space to exchange experiences and knowledge for the construction of new knowledge and renovating possibilities.

It is a contribution for people in exile and migration to find forms of collective expression and to be taken into account by Colombian institutions and society, as the center of public policies for stable and lasting peace, as referred to in the agreement that put an end to the armed conflict.

The event, which will run until Sunday, seeks that the victims are actors in the recovery of their own historical memory and participate in the elaboration of a report on the complex truth of the war.

Also, to contribute to the concrete and healing answers about the people reported missing, as well as to the construction of an ideology and mechanisms that guarantee the reestablishment and full satisfaction of the rights of the victims for the non-repetition or reproduction of the conflict.

The Listening Acts Laboratory of the Center for Oral History and Digital Narratives of Concordia University, Canada, and the International Victims Forum, organizers of the event, intend that these voices expand and have an impact on the actions of the public and private spheres, both in Colombia and in the host countries.

With the biosecurity measures, they hope to have academics, scientists, students, technicians, women, unions, artists, social movements, urban and rural workers, ethnic diversities and gender orientations, among others. In addition, it is expected to be a constructive scenario in which the institutions created by the Victims Law and the Agreement for a Stable and Lasting Peace will be present, with the support of the guarantor countries and international organizations.
