The exchange of ideas between Presidents Alberto Fernández and Luis Arce took place within the framework of the day of friendship between Argentina and Bolivia

La Paz, July 13 (RHC)-- The presidents of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, and Bolivia, Luis Arce, condemned the sending of military supplies to this nation by former president Mauricio Macri after the coup d'état in 2019, and ratified the ties of friendship between both nations and the will to continue working together to defend democracy in Latin America.

Fernandez and Arce held a meeting via videoconference to present the film "Juana Azurduy. Guerrillera de la Patria Grande", occasion in which they addressed the shipment of war material by Macri to the de facto government of Jeanine Áñez, installed after the coup d'état in Bolivia in 2019.

Regarding this event, Fernández stated that he feels ashamed because "the Argentina of those days did not behave well with the Bolivians", specifically "the Argentine Government of that time".

At the same time, he expressed tranquility for the fact that the Government he presides, together with Mexico, contributed to the efforts to get out of the country the former President Evo Morales, the former Vice President Álvaro García Linera and "so many persecuted comrades in Bolivia", he said.

For his part, Arce told him that "there was no reason for them to feel ashamed", since "the Government of the Argentine people has always behaved well with us, the Bolivians". He also thanked his Argentine counterpart for everything they did to protect the life of Evo Morales.

Regarding the shipment of military equipment used in the repression after the coup d'état, Arce said that "there are legal instances that will surely take action on the matter". He added that this type of collaboration "should never be given to any coup government, by any government".

About this incident, the Bolivian ambassador to Argentina, Jorge Ramiro Tapia, stated on Monday that the entry of a note together with the war materials that the Macri government sent in 2019 to Bolivia has been corroborated in the archives, and expressed that the Bolivian people do not want "neither forgetfulness nor forgiveness, but justice".

Fernández also asserted in the videoconference that the Argentine and Bolivian peoples are "indissolubly united brothers, whom nothing can separate", and urged the two governments to "continue working together in this Latin America where democracy is so often besieged, mistreated."
