Medellin, July 21 (RHC)-- Alternative media denounced Tuesday a new scene of repression by the authorities against a cultural group demonstrating in the Colombian city of Medellin, located in the department of Antioquia.

As part of the demonstrations taking place throughout the country against the policies of the Government of Iván Duque, for the commemoration of those killed and disappeared during the national strike and for Independence Day, the group of artists was dispersed from the center of Medellin despite the fact that they were peacefully concentrated.

Another of the expressions repressed was a concert that took place in the area of Parques del Río-Medellín, where members of the police attacked the attendees with tear gas and stun bombs.

In spite of the authorities' intimidations, Colombians continue to deploy in the cities demanding a change of model to combat social inequality and the vortex of violence. 

In Bogota, hundreds of people gathered early in the morning and marched towards the historic Monument of the Heroes, several leaders are expected to be present at the site.  Likewise, in the emblematic Plaza Bolivar of the Colombian capital, a cultural concert is being held with the participation of the band Aterciopelados, Doctor Krápula, among others.

Meanwhile, the city of Cali, branded as the city of resistance after the massive concentrations during the national strike, is also a protagonist, both university students and trade unions demonstrated from several historic points.
