Caracas, August 15 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan government has called on the United States, Canada and the European Union to cease their "blackmail and pressure" and lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the South American country.

According to media reports, the U.S., the EU and Canada said they are willing to review the sanctions policy towards Venezuela if the government of President Nicolás Maduro facilitates "significant progress" at the dialogue table with the opposition established in Mexico.

In response, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza assured on his Twitter account that "criminal U.S. sanctions generate suffering in the Venezuelan people and have hindered political dialogue."

"They are not imperial concessions.  They must eliminate them for their illegality and perversity.  Stop the blackmail and pressure," said the head of diplomacy of the South American nation.
