La Paz, August 27 (RHC)-- The executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, expressed his solidarity with Venezuela in view of the damages caused by heavy rains and floods in that country.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, Llorenti shared a statement from the Alliance in which it "expresses its unwavering solidarity and support to the Government and people of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela."

In addition, they recognized the efforts made by the Venezuelan State to guarantee the necessary attention to the families affected by the rainfall and in the recovery of the affected areas.

"The ALBA-TCP countries deeply regret this natural disaster, reiterate all their solidarity (...), and express their wish for a speedy recovery," the high representative's message concluded.

A report from the Venezuelan Civil Protection reported that the heavy rains affected 85 municipalities in the states of Aragua, Bolívar, Mérida, Miranda and Portuguesa, among others.

More than 8,000 houses were damaged and more than 9,000 families were affected, being one of the most damaged states Merida, where several land communication routes have been freed to reach the most remote communities.

In view of this situation, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro signed a 90-day state of emergency decree to facilitate logistical actions to contribute to the recovery of the different damaged areas.
