Mexico City, September 18 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived in Mexico City late Friday night to participate in the VI Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

After being received by Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, the Venezuelan president said on Friday that he arrives with a set of proposals to resume the Celac's own and sovereign path.

"CELAC is our path.  We saw its foundation, its trajectory and now its relaunching," said the Venezuelan president in a video posted on his Twitter account.

Nicolás Maduro said he wrote a letter to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), in which he suggested the appointment of a General Secretariat based in Mexico, to strengthen and integrate the regional bloc.

The Venezuelan president recalled that there is a debate between the Monroism of Imperial America and the Bolivarianism that Venezuela and the sovereign peoples proclaim.

According to Maduro, the debate is resolved with the appointment of a Secretary General to work on the return of the legacy of the founders of the first progressive wave such as Hugo Chávez, Fidel Castro, Néstor Kirchner, Lula da Silva, Rafael Correa, Evo Morales, José "Pepe" Mujica, Cristina Kirchner, Dilma Rousseff, Daniel Ortega and Raúl Castro.

Maduro considered that "the union of Latin America and the Caribbean is above any problem and any difference.  For the union everything; outside the union, nothing."

"We bring the truth of Venezuela, the truth of Simón Bolívar, of the Liberators and of (Hugo) Chávez", exclaimed the head of state.
