La Paz, September 28 (RHC)-- The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, called for "respect of the Wiphala" or Indigenous flag and noted that it is a national emblem that represents the "history of the struggle of the original Indigenous peoples."

"The Wiphala is respected, sisters and brothers, because it represents the language, it is the history, it is the summary of the entire struggle of our native peoples, of our country, and it will not be erased with the whim of one or a group of people," he said.

The Bolivian president expressed these words in a speech in Achacachi, in the department of La Paz, in a meeting with the Ponchos Rojos and mayors of the Omayusos province.  While there, he also shared concern for the resurgence of racist sectors that have never understood the multicultural essence of Bolivia.

In addition, Luis 'Lucho' Arce stressed that it is a pity that despite so many years of struggle for equality and respect among all, there are people who do not understand.  And the president responded to the declarations of the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, for his racist attitude and actions.
