Bogota, September 29 (RHC)-- Members of the Mobile Anti-Riot Squadron (ESMAD) repressed demonstrations that took place during the day of the National Strike against the government of Colombian President Ivan Duque.

According to protest and human rights organizers, alhough most of the day took place without incidents, reports of abuses of authority began in different cities of Colombia, including the capital, Bogota, by the end of the demonstrations.

Reports on digital networks revealed that forces of ESMAD attacked demonstrators in an excessive manner, particularly at the headquarters of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) in Bucaramanga.

According to these reports, the protesters were trapped inside the campus, including the injured and minors, while the ESMAD forces surrounded the site so that the young people are afraid to leave the place.

During the day, hundreds of citizens in different areas of the country took to the streets to demand, among other things, the processing of the ten bills filed by the Strike Committee in Congress since July.

Meanwhile, in the capital of the country, confrontations between the demonstrators and the public forces were reported at two specific points, the Portal de las Americas, called "Portal de la Resistencia" (Portal of Resistance) and in the locality of Usme, near the "Puente de la Dignidad" (Bridge of Dignity).
